Logistics: When a Rider Decides to Steal iPhones
One of the stories we heard when we were making plans to start out was about a company that an order to deliver some iPhones.
Not one, about 6 iPhones and new ones.
It turned out that the delivery guy found out the content and of course the value of what he was expected to deliver. He took off with it and was never seen again.
Scary right?
The owners of the package 📦 came for the business owner to provide their items as his employee and his actions were his responsibility and the movement of the valuableS was contracted to the company.
He had to pay for those items, of course.
What have we done in Atlas Cargo Express to stop this kind of incident?
• We know our riders very well. As matter of fact, our current rider came recommended by someone we have worked with before.
• We did the due diligence of getting every documentation right. From guarantor to the place of residence and otherwise.
• We took it further by having what is called Goods in Transit Insurance. It’s a kind of insurance recommended for businesses in the logistics industry. The insurance covers you for situations of thefts, incidents, accidents and customers goods are affected. It’s a proactive line of defence.
• We trust our riders. We make their welfare paramount and we have done specific things for them that make them also trust us and want to represent the company well. More so, we are proud of our riders.
There are other things we put in place that we don’t want to reveal but such a situation like a story above has been planned for ahead of time.
